Kōkua Community Dye Bath | Indigo!

We are VERY excited to host our first Community Dye Bath, inspired by our friends over at SUAY Sew Shop, on Saturday January 28th from 11am-1pm! This is our first Community Dye Bath so please join us as we learn together how to transform stained, forgotten clothes in need of a refresher.

When: Saturday, January 28, 11am-1pm
Where: Kōkua General Store 66-249 Kamehameha Hwy in Haleʻiwa town
What to bring: Clean garments/fabric that you want to dye, a reusable plastic bag to put the dyed clothing in, and rubber gloves.
What fabrics to bring: 
You can  dye natural fibers such as cotton, linen and hemp., or..  Please note the following items cannot go in the dye bath: polyester, leather, fur, silk, spandex (lycra), nylon, sheer (gauzy) fabrics, lace, wool, undergarments, and some upholstery fabrics. Please do not bring towels or any fabric larger than a pillow case as space is limited.
Cost: $5.00 per fabric item. 100% of proceeds supports Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation!What Wear: Please wear clothes that you donʻt mind getting a little dye on.
     
How do I participate in the community dye bath?
To participate, come to the Kōkua General Store anytime between 11am-1pm. Bring your pre-washed,clean natural fiber materials, a reusable bag and gloves!

How much does it cost?
The price is $5.00 per fabric item. 100% of proceeds support Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation!

What kind of clothes and fabric can I bring?
We are accepting pre-washed and clean natural fiber items i.e: cotton, lined  and/or hemp. Please note the following items cannot go in the dye bath: polyester, leather, fur, silk, spandex (lycra), nylon, sheer (gauzy) fabrics, lace, wool, undergarments, and some upholstery  Due to space in dye baths, please do not bring towels or any fabric larger than a pillow case as space is limited.

How many items can I bring? 
As many as you like! Just remember it is $5 per item.

Will we be able to tie dye items?
Yes, our volunteer Paula will have a table set up to teach you how to tie dye your own fabric with natural dye!
